The Victory Won

Watch and pray
Find strength to overcome
The flesh is weak
In Jesus the victory won
A kiss of betrayal
Deserted, denied
Mockery, crowned with thorns
By the crowds sentenced to be crucified
 The King of the Jews
The Sinless Son of Man
The Son of God
The Sacrificial Lamb
 Flogged, bloodied
Jesus hung upon a cross
Darkness fell across the land
But victory wasn’t lost
 Giving up his spirit,
The Temple curtain torn
The earth shook
Overcome, many left to mourn
 Wrapped in linen
They laid Jesus in the tomb
Sealed and guarded
No access to assume
 As the third day dawned
The stone rolled away
Victory triumphed
Jesus no longer in the grave
He has risen! He has risen!
With great joy they shared
When Jesus appeared
He talked with them there
 Why are you frightened?
Why do you doubt who I am?
Touch me and make sure
Look at my hands
I will send you my spirit
With power from heaven above
Tell the nations to repent from sin
And turn to me for I am love
