Have you ever felt fear put you in the corner of a boxing match? Fear has a way of punching down all our defenses and making us feel cornered and unprotected. Fear tells us every step into the unknown is destined for failure. Fear can paralyze us, and cause us to believe we are not strong enough, smart enough, or talented enough. Fear can even tell us the positive will ruin us. But I have found that when fear steps into the ring, it is through Gods promises that we can win the match. When we take Gods promises to prayer all Heaven begins to cheer in our corner. The Holy Spirit steps up to coach us. We must be willing however to listen to Gods plan and not ours. Jesus agonized in the Garden of Gethsemane in the midst of what he was facing. But in his agony he came to his father in prayer. When He went to the cross many thought the match was over, defeat was at hand, even Jesus on the cross said: “My God my God why have you forsaken me” But out of that darkness God brought the greatest victory of all time. Fear challenges us to quit when resurrection power is just around the corner. If we will trust God with his promises and take those to prayer, God can bring victory even out of what looks like defeat.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for your promise to help us, strengthen us, and uphold us with your victorious right hand. We know that no circumstance or situation can separate us from your love. You Almighty God give peace of mind and heart through the power of the promised Holy Spirit. Lord we pray you would flood our hearts with light so we can understand the wonderful future you have for us. May you help us to understand how high, how wide and how deep your love really is in every circumstance. May we continually feel the power of your presence that comforts us and sets our minds at ease. And may those who have never meant you come to know you in your wonderful grace love and mercy. In Jesus strong name Amen
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord”
