There is something beautiful about gathering with other believers and coming together as a community and family in Christ. Although personally I have to admit I have wondered if I am grasping the full meaning of fellowship. When we come into a relationship with God we are bound together in service through God. The Bible teaches us that if we are living in the light of Gods presence, just as Christ is, then we have fellowship with each other. 1 John 1:7 It also teaches us that within that fellowship we are one body in Christ. 1 Corinthians 12: 12-31. We cannot walk in the light and look at fellowship as maybe or unimportant; to reject fellowship is to reject the body of Christ ( the church). He calls us to be one body together in Him. It is through that spirit and oneness that the Spirit of God works. Ephesians 4:4-6, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 It is in that oneness that the church is strengthened, and it is in that oneness the very prayer of Jesus is answered…
“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.
“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.
John 17:20-23
