An Open Door Policy

As an artist I have always enjoyed this painting of Jesus standing at the door and knocking. I love how the artist omitted the door knob in his illustration, suggesting that Jesus is leaving the choice to the person on the other side to open the door. This Illustration comes from Revelation 3:20.  I have often heard this verse directed toward unbelievers, however the context comes from Jesus addressing His church.
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.Revelation 3: 20

As believers if we keep an open door policy with Jesus, we can walk in victory. This policy is our choice. It will enable His spirit to open our heart to receive the truth and His guidance.

“The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” Psalm 32:8

But if we have areas we close off the entrance to, we can become indifferent, hard and prideful in those places. If we hear Jesus at the door knocking we should open it!! And take courage!  For He has nourishment to satisfy our needs and clothe us with victory if we will listen to His voice and open the door to receive his truth and directives.”
