As I was studying this week I had to ask myself… Am I a person of influence? Not on some big grand scale but in the circle of people that are apart of my life. Would the people I know who have never personally met Jesus as their Savior be drawn to seek out the mysteries of Christ because of what they see in me? Would the light of God’s peace call to them through me? Would my life bring awareness to another’s inner spirit…drawing out their desire to believe that deep down there is more than this world offers them. Would my influence reach into the lives of those who do know Christ with a heart of integrity that is loving, understanding, patient and kind? Would other believers be strengthened to fix their eyes upon Christ because they see my faith joyfully looking to him? Would my character and actions speak louder than my words?

Honestly, I could end here on my knees… knowing that I fall short of such influence. Yet my heart knows God calls us to be light in a dark world. He calls us to live in unity with other believers.

We live in a world where many are headed toward derailment. If we’re honest, we can see how easy it is to give in to the rumble of indifference. To begin to have influence we have to be willing to meet a person with love and respect on their journey…fully surrendered to Christ in ours.
For it is not so much our influence as it is the influence of Christ working through us.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
