Behold

Night settles in
Sounds of bleating begin to calm
Around the fire shepherds gather
For the night is long

Listening quietly
Night watch draws near
Stars softly shinning
Sleeping in the clear

Then behold
An angel appeared
Gods glory shinning
Deeply the shepherds feared

Listen, fear not!
It’s good news I bring
Today the Messiah has been born
And all of heaven sings

Tenderly he lays
A newborn babe in a manger
Wrapped snugly in strips of cloth
Yes, He is Christ the Savior!

Speechless are they
For now a multitude of angels filled the sky
The shepherds quaking deep in their hearts
As the heavens gave glory to God most high

Then the angels departed
And only the bleating of sheep filled the air
But the shepherds hearts were beating
We must see what God has declared
